This book is well indexed, plentifully illustrated, and easy to read. It includes a huge number of lilies, most with colour photos, all described in the botanical categories.My main love of lilies are the Orientals, which flower well in my garden. So that was where I started, but then found I could not put the book down.My Mother's garden had some lovely tiger lilies. I found them here and I looked for different colours in the same structure - what a great lot of colour photos, descriptions, and details of their history. I am now keen to collect Martagons as well as orientals, and a few Asiatics.I have been enticed to look for Lily Societies etc. I will also be investigating how/if I can get bulbs through our stringent bio-security system.As if that were not enough to recommend the book, the author includes chapters on every aspect from buying, through cultivation to propogation and pest control. Everything I could possibly want to know about lilies, and all in "everyman's language" that any keen gardener can understand.I will keep it close at hand for many years to come.Even when I am beyond gardening, it will thrill me with all the lovely photos.A lot of pages were missingIt is a mystery why bulb sellers don't give indications of what soil etc plants like. This book is a fund of useful information about lilies, which ones like shade/sun, acid/alkaline soil etc., which ones are prone to disease. Also a guide to propogation. It seems more hands on than the RHS guide which I also bought.all ok,dave.
